Role Overview

Focus Solutions is seeking an entry-level or junior Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for working with data. In this role, you'll help design, build, and optimize data solutions - including data warehouses, ETL processes, and reporting tools - to support business insights and decision-making.

Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI is essential for success in this role. This is a great opportunity to work with a collaborative, fully remote team dedicated to innovation and impact within the healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide projects and initiatives.
• Identify and validate data sources needed to produce accurate datasets and reports.
• Ensure delivered data solutions meet stakeholder requirements and support decision-making.
• Conduct data analysis and develop meaningful, accurate, and dependable data reports using Microsoft Power BI.
• Develop both regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports for end users and data quality management.
• Actively contribute to a variety of analytical projects from start to finish.
• Provide data analysis, engineering, and support as part of a combined product development and consulting team.
• Perform root cause analysis for ETL job failures and data warehouse integration issues.
• Serve as a liaison between IT teams, business stakeholders, and end users.
• Work with customers to validate business requirements and facilitate user acceptance testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with SQL data structures within the Microsoft tech stack.
• Ability to write complex and performant SQL queries for reporting and analytics.
• Expertise in creating polished, user-friendly reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• Familiarity with advanced Power BI features such as:
  • Complex DAX
  • Row-level security implementation
  • Paginated report development
  • Automated delivery and subscription options
  • Shared datasets
• Experience with Power BI workspace management.
• Working knowledge of code repository systems such as Azure DevOps/Git.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of experience in data engineering, reporting analysis, or a related role
• Associate degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Power BI (required); willingness to continue learning and developing skills
• Exposure to the healthcare industry is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, or Azure Data Factory is a bonus
• Ability to learn quickly and work both independently and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
• Detail-oriented, organized, and curious with a passion for data
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively while building new skills.

• This position offers a salary of $60,000-$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
