Position Overview
Wetland Studies Solutions Inc., a Davey company, is seeking a full-time environmental compliance inspector to join our Maryland based team to start immediately. This position would support the construction of large-scale transportation projects by fulfilling the environmental commitments of applicable permits. Primary duties, requirements and preferred qualifications are outlined below.
Job Duties
• To support management on all aspects of environmental permit compliance triggered from project-specific, federal, and state required for large-scale transportation projects.
• Inspect and document Best Management Practices (BMPs) to ensure all devices shown in Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) plans have been installed.
• Inspect, document, and report ESC conditions.
• Maintain and continually update construction-related Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan(s) (SWPPP) and supporting documentation in accordance with National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) guidelines.
• Prepare and support field modifications to ESC Plans.
• Coordinate with construction managers to ensure any noted deficiencies are repaired in accordance with minimum standards.
• Attend meetings and coordinate with construction teams, local, state, and federal regulatory staff as needed.
• Attend public outreach meetings and/or events as directed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. in Environmental Studies or related field
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Outstanding communication skills
• Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
• MD State Highway Administration’s Erosion and Sediment Control Certification (i.e., Yellow Card)
• A valid Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) Responsible Personnel Certification (i.e., Green Card)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 3 years of experience performing environmental compliance for large scale transportation projects
