Reports to: Finance & HR Manager

Summary: Finance interns are allowed to perform work related to finance, including accounts receivable, daily cash receipts, reconciliations, and other clerical and administrative work of the Business Office function.?In addition, interns will receive experience synthesizing that information to assist in the reconciliation, month-end, and annual audit preparation. In addition, interns receive instruction in accounting, and professional development opportunities, and gain an understanding of the full scope of work that is involved in Museums.

FLSA Status: Part-Time (20-25 hours per week), Non-exempt

Duration: 12- weeks

SALARY: $13.00 per hour

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shadow Finance Staff to Gain a Well-Rounded Understanding of Non-Profit Finance
• Gain an Understanding of GL Account Structure, Chart of Accounts and Departmental Budgets
• Enter New Vendors into Accounting Software
• Open Mail and Distribute Invoices to Appropriate Departments
• Assist in Entering Operations Invoices and Code Appropriately into the General Ledger
• Download Credit Card Expense Reports for Digital Storage
• Assist with Month-end Processes, Reconciliations, Journal Entries and Reporting
• Gain Understanding of Fiscal Year Close and Annual Audit Preparation
• Order Office Supplies & Maintain Mail Machine
• Ad-hoc Data Analysis & Projects

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Degree in Accounting, Business, Museum Studies, or Related Field
• Ability to Uphold the Highest Level of Confidentiality
• Ability to Learn Basic Functions of Blackbaud Financial Edge System
• Possess High Attention to Detail and Professionalism
• Maintains Professional Image at All Times
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent Written, Verbal, and Interpersonal Skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to complete the following tasks with/without reasonable accommodations so the requirements of this position can be fully met:

• Telephone and computer throughout the workday.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position periodically during shift.
• Ability to access materials, supplies, etc. intermittently throughout the workday.
• Communicates using the English language.
• Sees and hears or uses prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• May occasionally move equipment, supplies, etc., of twenty (20) pounds.
