Salary: $70,000-$100,000

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Consultant to join our team and provide expert human resources advice and services to our clients across California. As an HR Consultant, you will play a key role in developing and implementing HR strategies, ensuring compliance with California labor laws, and offering guidance on various HR matters, including talent management, organizational development, employee relations, and workforce planning. You will be working with a diverse client base, ranging from small businesses to large corporations, to help them navigate the complexities of HR regulations and improve overall workforce effectiveness. This is a remote role, however you will be expected to go to clients sites as required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Strategy Development: Collaborate with clients to design and implement tailored HR strategies aligned with business goals.
  • California Labor Law Compliance: Ensure clients adhere to state-specific employment laws, including wage and hour laws, employee classification, leaves of absence, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Employee Relations: Offer expert advice on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, performance management, and employee engagement to enhance workplace harmony.
  • Talent Management: Support clients in recruiting, onboarding, and developing employees, including designing job descriptions, conducting interviews, and implementing talent retention strategies.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Advise clients on competitive compensation packages, benefits administration, and compensation benchmarking in accordance with California standards.
  • Workforce Planning & Organizational Development: Assist clients with workforce analysis, succession planning, and organizational structure reviews to meet business needs.
  • Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs on compliance, leadership development, employee performance, and HR best practices.
  • HR Policy Development: Create and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and procedures in compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify HR-related risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential legal and financial exposures.
  • HR Technology Consulting: Guide clients on the selection, implementation, and management of HRIS, payroll systems, and other HR technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) are preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an HR generalist or HR consulting role, with a strong focus on California wage and labor law and compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of California employment laws and regulations, including AB5, CFRA, FEHA, PAGA, and Cal/OSHA requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client projects and deadlines.
  • Experience working with HR technology, including HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a consulting environment or working with multiple clients across various industries.
  • Knowledge of HR trends and best practices, especially as they relate to California’s evolving legal landscape.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not required.
