General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work assisting with court operations and decorum, determining detainment issues and removal of juveniles in imminent danger from household, preparing and maintaining files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Juvenile Court Manager.

Essential Functions
Reviews, investigates and processes complaints, detentions, petitions and referrals to the Court involving juveniles who are potentially delinquent, unruly, neglected or abandoned.
Determines detainment issues regarding juveniles for law enforcement agencies according to findings and in compliance with Federal, State and local law.
Attends in-take conferences and court cases.
Assists and coordinates information with appropriate law enforcement agencies, judges, attorneys, and the Department of Family and Children Services; reviews and investigates complaints and cases involving juveniles, including assisting with locating missing children.
Prepares and submits petitions for the Court in accordance with findings.
Prepares cases for presentation to the prosecution in the Juvenile Court.
Performs follow-up process on individual cases.
Prepares and maintains appropriate paperwork, files and required reports; performs filing tasks.
Serves petitions, subpoenas and other documents as ordered by the Juvenile Court.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent customer service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the office methods, procedures and practices of the Juvenile Court; general knowledge of laws contained within the Official Code of Georgia; thorough knowledge of applicable court policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of the geography and population patterns of the county; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; ability to operate standard office equipment; thorough knowledge of office programs and policies; Considerable knowledge of the methods and practices of law enforcement and ability to analyze potentially dangerous and other situations quickly and objectively; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court officials, law enforcement officials, attorneys, surveyors, realtors, title examiners, associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
Associates/Technical degree or equivalent with coursework in social science, criminal justice, or related field and moderate experience in a law office or juvenile law enforcement, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).
