Job Description
Perform custodial duties throughout the facilities which includes sterilizing, sanitizing, dusting, sweeping, washing, wiping, scrubbing, and mopping.
▪ Maintain sanitary conditions in the facilities to include collection and disposal of all trash or debris daily and clean-up of all spills. ▪ Responsible for operation of sanitation equipment.
▪ Wash and sanitize using proper cleaning procedures and cleaning chemicals.
▪ Clean and sanitize food processing machinery and equipment, and facilities using specific procedures as directed ▪ Preserve floor care using power equipment in assigned areas.
▪ Routine maintenance of outside areas and front sidewalks or as needed.
▪ Complete related documentation for the planning and evaluation of sanitation activities. ▪ Clean any/all restrooms as needed to maintain sanitary conditions.
▪ Report to the supervisor immediately any unfixable/unsafe issues.
▪ Observe and enforce all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
▪ Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e., attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Employee Handbook, etc.) Complies with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e., OSHA, FDA, etc.).
▪ Perform project work and other duties as assigned.
Work Experience: ▪ Prior sanitation experience is a plus. ▪ Ability to use the following equipment: broom, mop, hose, vacuum, floor scrubber, etc. ▪ One plus year sanitation or janitorial experience, preferably in a food processing plant. 2 ▪ Ability to read chemical labels and follow safe handling procedures for all chemicals used in cleaning activities.
Competencies: ▪ Adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a timely manner. ▪ Organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor own work for quality. ▪ Dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and requests. ▪ Multitask and show flexibility with last minute changes. ▪ Must understand and comply with all GMP’s and Food Safety requirements. ▪ Highly motivated and can handle a high volume of work with accuracy in a fast-changing environment. ▪ Flexible with working hours and must be able to work any shift, any hours, weekends, and holidays as required. ▪ Work independently and troubleshoot issues as applicable.
Physical Requirements: ▪ Work may require moderate lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. ▪ Usually required to stand and walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk and hear. ▪ Ability to withstand varied environmental conditions, such as cold and heat, extreme wet, within closed surroundings ▪ Exposure to chemical cleaning solution (with protective gear) ▪ Position requires frequent lifting, standing, reaching, climbing, pulling, stooping, bending, and kneeling ▪ Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings ▪ Ability to be on feet majority of shift, frequent walking and standing.
Other Requirements ▪ Must be able to successfully pass Drug and Alcohol pre-employment and ongoing screening. ▪ Valid Drivers’ License required. ▪ Must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays. ▪ Work hours may vary, or change based on departmental requirements. ▪ Weekend and holiday availability required
