Finance & Accounting | Project-based Consulting | Permanent Placement | Executive Search | Finance Transformation The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and grant requirements. This role will work closely with program managers and development staff to track restricted and unrestricted funds, prepare grant reports, and support annual audits. Key Responsibilities Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries. Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Maintain grant and contract accounting records; track expenses against budgets and funding restrictions. Prepare grant financial reports and reimbursement requests for federal, state, and private funders. Monitor restricted vs. unrestricted funds and ensure proper allocation of expenses. Assist with budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial projections. Support the annual audit, 990 preparation, and other compliance filings. Help improve internal controls, processes, and accounting systems. Collaborate cross-functionally with program, operations, and development teams. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or nonprofit accounting certification preferred. 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the nonprofit sector. Experience with Grants Accounting (federal, state, or private). Solid understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and compliance requirements (OMB Uniform Guidance a plus). Proficiency with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, etc.). Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
