The Sr. Data Center Cabling Specialist will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for cabling/data installation projects. The Sr. Data Center Cabling Specialist's task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
• Lead team(s) of cabling technicians and installers, providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
• Run major project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; ensure adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute cabling projects, including the installation, termination, and testing of network and communication cables in accordance with industry standards.
• Conduct site surveys and assess cabling requirements to determine appropriate materials, equipment, and resources needed for each project.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop cabling plans and strategies that meet the organization's infrastructure needs.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with project budget.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety guidelines during cabling installations and maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex cabling issues, utilizing specialized tools and equipment to identify faults and implement effective solutions.
• Perform cable terminations, splicing, and testing, including fiber optics, copper, and coaxial cables, to ensure optimal network performance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cabling projects, including as-built drawings, cable records, test results, and project progress reports.
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cabling and network infrastructure.
• Monitor and manage inventory of cabling materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for ongoing projects and identifying needs for replenishment.
• Serve as the main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns related to cabling or similar work; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in cabling systems, such as BICSI Technician are highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a Lead Cabling Technician or similar role, with a strong background in network cabling installations and maintenance.
• Proficiency in using cabling tools and equipment, such as cable testers, fusion splicers, OTDRs, termination kits, and cable management systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of technicians to achieve project objectives.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex cabling issues.
• Solid understanding of safety protocols and adherence to industry best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and clients.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• 6+ years of experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of cabling standards, including structured cabling systems (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801) and fiber optic cabling (e.g., OSP, ISP).
• Maneuvering on uneven ground and climb ladders.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35lbs.
• Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods while using tools and perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
• Must be able to travel up to 75-80% of the time.

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
