Summary The Cisco Network Engineer role is responsible for the configuring, installing, troubleshooting and repairing Cisco solutions for a California State Agency.
Scope of Role Responsibilities Essential, key job responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Dedicated Cisco Network Engineer for the California State Agency.
- Configuring, installing, monitoring, troubleshooting and repairing technical networking solutions for the customer.
- Assist with assessments, planning, design, configuration, installation and support of the solutions.
- Assist with validation of solution designs, bill of materials, statements of work, and labor estimate when appropriate.
- Consistent, accurate and timely tracking of client work, service calls, and related documentation.
- Travel between Agency sites is required. Candidate needs reliable transportation. All travel will be expensed, including IRS Mileage reimbursement, tolls and parking.

Role Qualifications and Requirements
The following are minimum qualifications and requirements required for this role: - At least 5 years of experience as a Cisco Network Engineer, directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Cisco networking experience strongly preferred, including Cisco Wireless
- Network monitoring/management/troubleshooting tools and techniques
- Familiarity with other networking products and technologies including Palo Alto, F5, NSX/Forescout
- Ability to relay technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
- Strong written/verbal communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving or troubleshooting skills
- Must possess excellent time management skills.
- Ability to travel to Customer locations as required
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required during client cutovers.
- This position requires a high level of independence and strong client service skills. Organizational ability is important to keep track of all tasks, because the job requires a great deal of multi-tasking.
- Must be a team player, yet work well independently.
- Should be adept at managing tasks assigned by management or team leads.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must supply reliable cell phone.
The following qualifications are ideal, but not required: - Bachelors degree preferred.
